BELIZE IN 2010 DURING FULL MOON Whale sharks visit the Gladden Spit area of Belize during the full moon period of March, April, May & June to feed on the spawn of the aggregating snappers. I’ve timed this trip (hopefully) for optimal whale shark viewing! Whale shark diving is NOT included in any regular packages and there is an upgrade fee to be included in the whale shark dives and they are done by permit only. So, come join us in Belize in April 2010! We’re staying at Hamanasi Adventure & Dive Resort (www.hamanasi.com) and I’ve blocked beachfront rooms. They have limited our group size to 10 so space will go fast! Beachfront rooms have 2 queen beds. One of the nice things about Hamanasi is their Reef & Rainforest package which includes 5 “Adventures” which can be 2-tank Southern Barrier reef boat dives, Jungle & Waterfall hikes, caves & jungle adventures, tropical birding, jungle river & kayaking, or Magical Mayan History Tours! For those with non-diving roommates, there’s lots to do there! Pricing is still pending, but I will post details as soon as I find out. Diving with the whale sharks is by permit by the Belizean government & it’s a lottery system but each group is pretty much guaranteed at least ONE dive trip to Gladden Spit. Additional trips may be booked depending on availability of permits & the whale shark dives cost an additional $110 per person (subject to change, of course!) A maximum of 4 boats (12 divers) are allowed in the whaleshark zone during each lottery time slot of 1-1/2 hours. A $1,000 per person deposit is required to confirm your space. An additional deposit may be required once air space has been secured and final balance will be due by 15FEB2010. PASSPORTS WITH SIX MONTHS REMAINING VALIDITY ARE REQUIRED FOR ENTRY INTO BELIZE. Copies of passports are required to confirm air space and Dive Travel Services Liability Release & Waiver and trip application are required of all participants. **PLEASE NOTE: All prices reflect a 3% discount for purchases made with cash/check.
